Surgery

In addition to providing surgical transplant services for Kidney, Liver and Pancreas patients, LifeLink offers a number of abdominal surgical procedures, including cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal) and hernia repairs.  Our surgeons also regularly perform:

• Hepatobiliary surgery – to address cancers, bile leakage and obstructions

• Vascular access – creating left upper extremity arterial venous fistula (AVF) or graft (AVG)

• Cancer surgery – such as hepatic or kidney resection as well as ablation.

Our hepatologist also performs colonoscopy and endoscopy.

Many procedures can be performed laparoscopically, resulting in smaller incisions and shorter surgery and recovery times.  In 2006, our liver department performed the first laparoscopic liver resection on the west coast of Florida.
