Robin Sluga, a kidney & pancreas recipient, now has the time and the energy to nurture the flowers and play with the cats |
Diagnosed with juvenile onset, or type I diabetes at the age of 10, insulin dependent Robin Sluga made a restricted diet and exhaustion a way of life.
While most people are entering their prime, diabetes had taken its toll, and at age thirty-six Robin was facing the loss of her eyesight and a regimen of dialysis due to kidney failure.
A simultaneous kidney and pancreas transplant changed Robin's life, not only taking away the kidney failure resulting from diabetes, but also eliminating the diabetes and alleviating the need for insulin shots.
Robin, who along with her husband nurtures an orchid farm and a family of rescued cats, now has the time and the energy to nurture the flowers and play with the cats.
