Bill and Martha never met
a baseball stadium they didn't love. |
Bill Minahan is a living legend around town - from his days playing college ball, to the records he set during 38 years as a high school football coach, to the impact he makes every single day with his message of saving lives through organ and tissue donation.
Diagnosed in 1983 with kidney failure, Bill received a kidney transplant in 1986 - and since then, with the support of Martha, his wife of 20 years, he has been volunteering to share the joy and meaning of his second chance at life.
A four- time badminton gold medalist at the U.S. Transplant Games, Bill and Martha share a passion for sports of any kind - they are self-described fanatics - but they have a special love for baseball.
Both teachers by profession, they did their traveling over the summer, during baseball season.
After his transplant, Bill and Martha made a commitment to visit every single professional baseball stadium ever built in the United States and Canada, and they have.
They live by the adage "carpe diem" or "seize the day," and cherish each moment as a memory in the making.
