Message from the President
Innovator. Trendsetter. Lifesaver. LifeLink Foundation is all of those and more. Our organ procurement organizations are recognized nationally for their innovative and proven methods of hospital development, requesting and public education. Our Tissue Bank, one of the largest in the Southeast, will soon expand into a new state-of-the-art facility which will allow more allograft treatment options for surgeons and the patients they serve. Our immunology laboratory is a pioneer, most recently in the expansion of immunological monitoring post transplant which allows for the prediction of organ rejection episodes before clinical signs and symptoms occur. Our stellar teams in the HealthCare Institute treat scores of patients through transplantation and disease management. Our Board of Governors and Advisory Boards provide guidance toward our mission - saving and enhancing lives.
LifeLink’s success is commendable; however there is much to be done. Sadly, too many still die daily because their life-saving organ was not available. We must press forward towards the day when everyone who needs a transplant will be able to receive one.

Message from the Chairman of the Board
The staff at LifeLink routinely meet face to face with every day heroes who significantly impact others. Donors and their families give life and hope to those in need; volunteers share their stories in an effort to save future lives; medical professionals work cooperatively to promote donation and transplantation; employees, Board of Governors and Advisory Board members dedicate their time to the transplant community; and all consciously choose to make a difference.
I am proud of the number of lives touched by LifeLink Foundation throughout our 25 years of service. I hope within the next 25 years the critical organ shortage will be resolved. LifeLink will strive towards that goal.
Dana L. Shires, Jr. M.D., F.A.C.P.
