Dana L. Shires, M.D., Physician Emeritus, is the founder of LifeLink Foundation and the HealthCare Institute.
In 1973, while serving as a Professor of Medicine at the University of South Florida, Dr. Shires established Tampa's organ recovery program.
He has served as LifeLink's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since its inception, and has held elected and appointed leadership positions in many local, regional and national organizations, which include the United Network for Organ Sharing and the Southeastern Organ Procurement Foundation.
Dr. Shires is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and nephrology. He has an extensive background in nephrology and renal transplantation, and has had articles published in numerous textbooks, journals, and as abstracts.
