Dr. David S. Bruce, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a multi-organ transplant surgeon experienced in kidney, liver, and pancreas transplantation. He has performed over 250 liver transplants, more than 40 laparoscopic donor nephrectomies and numerous pediatric living related liver transplants.
He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, and is also a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He completed a fellowship in transplantation surgery and a three-year research fellowship in Immunology at the University of Chicago, where he also completed his residency in general surgery.
His faculty appointments in the Section of Transplantation Surgery at the University of Chicago included Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery and Director of Pancreas Transplantation.
He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of numerous medical associations, including the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, American Society of Transplantation, The Transplantation Society, International Liver Transplantation Society, and The International Pancreas and Islet Transplant Association, to name a few.
Dr. Bruce has obtained research grants and conducted extensive research in the areas of immunosuppression, pancreas, liver and kidney transplantation and pediatric liver transplantation. He has also presented numerous abstracts, published articles and has written book chapters related to transplantation.
