Victor D. Bowers, M.D., F.A.C.S., has been a member of LifeLink's transplant surgical team since 1994 and is the Medical Director of the LifeLink HealthCare Institute. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is also a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners.
He completed his fellowship in transplantation at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. He also completed a fellowship in transplantation at Cambridge University. Dr. Bowers completed his five-year residency in general surgery at the University of South Florida.
During his medical tenure, he has held numerous academic and clinical appointments in several schools of medicine. At the University of South Florida College of Medicine, his most recent appointments included Affiliate Associate Professor of Surgery and Chief, Division of Transplant Surgery.
He was also an Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa College of Medicine. Dr. Bowers' research has involved topics such as vascular effects of cyclosporine, heterotopic auxiliary liver transplants, CMV infections in renal transplantation, and the immune modulating effects of deceased vascular grafts.
To date, Dr. Bowers has performed more than 1,000 kidney transplants, and currently serves as the Medical Director of the LifeLink Healthcare Institute.
