Rajendra S. Baliga, M.D., D.N.B. Transplant Nephrologist |
Rajendra S. Baliga, M.D., D.N.B., joined LifeLink from the University of Chicago where he completed his fellowship in transplant nephrology. Dr. Baliga finished his medical studies and general medicine residency at Seth GS Medical College and the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in Bombay, India.
He relocated to the United States to complete his internal medicine residency at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois and nephrology fellowship at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and nephrology, Dr. Baliga was the recipient of numerous awards during his training including the Domestic Young Investigator Award at the American Transplant Congress, and the Harry Kurz, MD Memorial Award for excellence in teaching by a Resident.
Dr. Baliga is a Diplomate of the National Board (DNB) of Medical Examiners, General Medicine in India. He is involved in research and has written numerous articles for publication. Some of his current research studies involve outcomes after renal transplantation in patients with end stage renal disease secondary to Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), kidney function after heart transplantation, and CMV prophylaxis and polyoma virus infection after renal transplantation in the United States.
He is a member of several prestigious professional organizations some of which include the American Society of Transplantation, the American Society of Nephrology, The National Kidney Foundation, and The Renal Physicians Association.
