Denise Alveranga M.D., F.A.S.N., F.A.C.P., Transplant Nephrology |
Denise Alveranga, M.D., F.A.S.N., F.A.C.P., has been a member of LifeLink's transplant nephrology team since 1988. She completed her two-year nephrology fellowship at Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, and her clinical fellowship in medicine at Columbia University in New York. Her medicine residency was completed at Harlem Hospital Center in New York. Dr. Alveranga is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and nephrology.
She was chairman of the UNOS Minority Affairs Committee from 1994 to 1996, and also served as a member of the UNOS Board of Directors. She participated on Secretary Tommy Thompson's advisory committee on organ transplantation and currently serves on The American Society of Transplantation Minority Affairs Committee.
She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of South Florida and has experience in all aspects of nephrology, hypertension and immunology. She is also a member of Tampa General Hospital's cardiac transplantation committee. Since 1983 she has been very involved in research, having co-authored several published papers in hypertension, nephrology and transplantation.
